Glamorous Nanjing Performances, a Great Hit in Zimbabwe

On May 15th, Glamorous Nanjing Performances hosted by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and Chinese embassy in Zimbabwe was held in Harare. More than 700 people including Chinese ambassador Guo Shaochun and Madame Wang Wei, Director Nicholas Moyo of National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, foreign ambassadors to Zimbabwe and other officials were present.

In his speech, Ambassador Guo thanked the Nanjing Art Troupe for traveling all the way to Zimbabwe, bringing a feast of traditional Chinese art to overseas Chinese and the Zimbabwean people. He spoke highly of the progress and achievements of China-Zimbabwe people-to-people and cultural exchanges in recent years and thanked the Zimbabwean government, social groups and people for their cooperation in promoting cultural exchanges. The visit of the Nanjing Art Troupe will inject new impetus to such exchanges.

Nicolas Moyo, Director of National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, said that China and Zimbabwe enjoy a profound traditional friendship and the Chinese culture is attracting more and more Zimbabweans. Zimbabwe and China have always been committed to promoting cultural exchanges. It is believed that the performances of the Nanjing Art Troupe of China will deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

The performance in the evening included folk dance, folk music, traditional acrobatics and magic shows. The wonderful performance won wide applause and cheers from the audience. The program ended with a performance entitled Ode to Auspiciousness, sung along by everybody in the audience. Ambassador Guo and Madame Wang went up to the stage, invited the guests to take photos with the cast and crew, and warmly congratulated on the success of the performance.
