Ambassador Guo Shaochun and Minister Mathema Agrees to Protecting the Rights and Interests of Chinese citizens

On April 8th, Ambassador Guo met with Zimbabwean Minister Mathema of Home Affairs and Culture Heritage.

The two sides reviewed the important achievements China and Zimbabwe has made in 2018, agreed to further strengthen cooperation in law enforcement and to jointly protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and institutions in Zimbabwe.

Ambassador Guo briefed on the recent robbery case involving Chinese citizens in Bulawayo. He urged the Zimbabwean Ministry of Home Affairs and the police to attach great importance to China's concerns, solve this case as soon as possible and arrest the robbers, so as to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and their property in Zimbabwe.

Mathema said that the Zimbabwean police were investigating the case and were trying to crack it at an early date. They will stay in touch with the Chinese embassy on the latest developments.

The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening personnel exchanges and protecting cultural heritage.
