Ambassador Guo Shaochun Meets with
Senate President Chinomona

On April 9th, Ambassador Guo met with Mabel Chinomona, President of the Senate of Zimbabwe, exchanging views on the China-Zimbabwe relations and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Ambassador Guo said that China and Zimbabwe enjoy profound traditional friendship and extensive cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields. Over the past year, President Mnangagwa visited China twice, upgrading bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The National People's Congress of China has maintained close exchanges and cooperation with the Zimbabwean Senate and House of Assembly. A stronger bilateral relationship relies on the unfailing support of the legislatures of the two sides. China will continue to maintain good exchanges with the Zimbabwean parliament, enhance mutual understanding and support and provide better legal protection for bilateral cooperation.

President Chinomona warmly welcomed Ambassador Guo and agreed with him on the status of the China-Zimbabwe relations. China had given strong support to Zimbabwe since its independence and the bilateral relations have come a long way. Zimbabwe attaches great importance to the ties with China and will firmly adhere to the one-China policy. It will maintain good cooperation with China in the international arena. Zimbabwe adopts an opening-up policy. The Zimbabwe parliament is also embarking on legislative reforms so as to improve its legal system, boost the economy and improve people's livelihood. Zimbabwe commends China's achievements in reform and opening up endeavors, and is ready to conduct in-depth exchanges with China in this regard and learn from China's development experience.

After the meeting, Ambassador Guo gave interviews to Zimbabwean media including The Herald and answered questions about China-Zimbabwean economic cooperation and trade.
