On the morning of August 19, 2003, Foreign
Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with Ali Abdi Farah,

Cooperation and Parliamentary Relations of Djibouti at the
foreign ministry building. The two sides exchanged views on
bilateral relations and issues of common
concern.
Li said that bilateral relations have
been progressing smoothly, with productive cooperation in
political, economic and trade areas and mutual support and
close coordination in international affairs, since the two
countries established diplomatic relations 24 years ago. Li
appreciated the adherence to the One China policy by the
Djibouti government, and said that the Chinese government
cherishes the traditional friendship between China and
Djibouti, and would like to strengthen exchanges, expand
consensus and enhance cooperation so that bilateral
relations can continue to develop in a sound and stable
way.
Farah said that Djibouti is satisfied with
the existing special friendly relations between the two
countries, and highly appreciates the selfless assistance of
various forms provided by the Chinese government and people
to Djibouti over the past years. He reaffirmed that Djibouti
would stick firmly to the One China policy.
Li
briefed him on the second ministerial meeting of
China-Africa Cooperation Forum to be held in the capital of
Ethiopia this December. Farah expressed his belief that the
meeting would be a complete success.
After the
talks, the two foreign ministers signed an agreement on the
