Honorable Deputy Foreign Minister Abedinico
Ncube, Dear friends of all walks of life of
Zimbabwe, Dear colleagues from Diplomatic
Corps, Dear fellow countrymen of
China, Distinguished guests, Ladies and
Gentlemen,
Good afternoon! On behalf of
my colleagues in the Chinese Embassy, allow me to
thank all of you for joining us together to
celebrate the 54th anniversary of the founding of the
Peoples Republic of China. As an ambassador
whos been here for only 24 days, I want to take this
opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the
Government of Zimbabwe, colleagues and friends for your warm
welcome, assistance and support I received since I touched
this land. Dear friends, The Peoples
Republic of China was founded in October 1, 1949. Over the
past 54 years, China has shown the world remarkable changes
with eye-catching achievements. This year, our economy
continues to maintain a sound momentum of growth in spite of
the outbreak of SARS and other severe natural disasters.
Statistics show that Chinas GDP for the first half of
this year increased by 8.2 percent. This year also
witnessed the successful election of a new Chinese
leadership headed by President Hu Jintao. Like their
predecessors, the newly-elected leaders are sparing no
efforts to work on the promotion of sustainable, rapid and
sound development of national economy and overall social
progress, and to further enhance the living standard of
Chinese people. Our historical mission is to accelerate the
modernization drive, complete the reunification course and
maintain world peace and promote common
development.
Dear friends, In December
this year, the second Ministerial Conference of the Forum on
China-Africa Cooperation will be held in Addis Ababa,
Ethiopia. This is part of the unremitting efforts made by
China and African countries to share experiences and pursue
common development. The participants of the conference will
hold extensive and in-depth discussion and exchanges on how
to further promote the establishment of a new, stable and
long-term China-Africa partnership of equality and mutual
benefit and all-round cooperation. We believe that the
conference will be fruitful and will play an important role
in enhancing China-African relations of friendship and
cooperation.
Ladies and Gentlemen, As I
mentioned just now, I am new to Zimbabwe. I hope and believe
that, during my tenure, I will receive full support and
cooperation from different departments of Zimbabwean
Government, all circles of the society and Diplomatic Corps
and, of course, I will enjoy the beautiful natural scenery
and the hospitality of Zimbabwe and its people. I thank you.
