The Chinese Embassy refutes false reports about China-Zimbabwe relations

Recently, an article named US uses 5 billion USD to buy the partner of China: Zimbabwe will expel Chinese investors in 3 days is spread in the Wechat platform. The author named Qianyuzatan says that the Zimbabwean Government claimed to expel Chinese investors in 3 days in exchange for the 5 billion loans from the US. The article attracted great attention of among Chinese and the Chinese Community in Zimbabwe.

The Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Zimbabwe wishes to make clarification that this is totally fake news fabricated irresponsibly and urge the public not to spread the news any more.

The Chinese Embassy emphasizes that the bilateral relations between China and Zimbabwe is traditionally friendly. In recent years, the top leaders in our countries visit each other frequently, and the relationship between our countries was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. The National Chairperson of Zanu-PF and Minister of Defense and War Veterans, Her Honorable Oppah Muchinguri and Minister of Finance and Economic Development Honorable Mthuli Ncube visited China recently, and exchanged views with their counterparts in China on how to deepen the cooperation between the two countries, which injected new impetus in the bilateral relations. The two sides signed the MOUs in Harare, jointly agreed to accelerate the implementation of the bilateral cooperative projects, and deepen the trade cooperation for the benefit the people of the two countries.

Tangible cooperation between the two sides in various fields is fruitful. The Kariba South Hydro-power Station was completed and several other projects such as the new parliament commissioned. The Chinese enterprises and Chinese Community have contributed tremendously to the progress of Zimbabwean economic development and bilateral repations of the two countries, which have been recognized by the Zimbabwean side. Currently, more and more Chinese enterprises come to Zimbabwe to discuss cooperation with Zimbabwe led by His Excellency Mnangagwa implementing the open for business policy.

The Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Zimbabwe sincerely thanks all sectors of the society, especially media friends, for the attention and positive reports on China-Zimbabwe relations. It is hoped that the media would continue to adopt pragmatic attitude, report the latest achievements in the development of China-Zimbabwe relations and create a good environmentfor the relationship between the two countries. For individuals irresponsible for groundlessrumors, the Chinese Embassy will require the competent authorities and media platforms to deal with them seriously according to the law.
