in Zimbabwe met with Zimbabwean Foreign Minister Mr. Moyo

On 12th December,Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Mr. Zhao Baogang of the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe met with Foreign Minister Mr. Moyo of Zimbabwe. They exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of common concerns.

Mr. Zhao spoke highly of the achievements in the past year and expressed China's appreciation for Zimbabwe's support on matters concerning China's core interests and major concerns. He reiterated China's stance in supporting Zimbabwe and supporting the early removal of illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe. Mr. Zhao said that Zimbabwe has recently established an inter-ministerial coordination committee headed by the foreign minister to accelerate bilateral cooperation projects. China highly appreciates this and is ready to work with the Zimbabwean side to strengthen policy coordination, continuously implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and consensus reached by the two leaders and push for the continuous development of bilateral relations.

Mr. Moyo commented that Zimbabwe-China relationship has gone through the test of history and time, and we are reliable and genuine partners to each other. Following the policy of opening up, Zimbabwe has actively been implementing the "re-engagement" policy with the international community to promote the country's economic and social development. Zimbabwe will continue to attach great importance to cooperation with China and work with China to further strengthen high-level exchanges and deepen bilateral cooperation in investment, financing, infrastructure construction and other fields. Zimbabwe will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy, firmly support China's position on issues related to Hong Kong and Xinjiang, strengthen cooperation with China in international affairs and jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the two countries and developing countries at large.
